Former Tottenham and Marseille star Chris Waddle says Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross should be playing for England.
The Geordie says Swansea City's England players also deserve a chance.
Asked if players were missing out on England selection because of a bias towards the bigger clubs, Waddle told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Yeah, definitely. Someone asked me before, why doesn't Roy Hodgson go to Swansea - because he doesn't want to pay the fare to go across the Bridge?
"There's the M50 so he can cut the corner if he likes. I would like to see Jonjo Shelvey here (with England), Nathan Dyer here and Mark Noble here."
He added: "I was at Manchester City last weekend (to see Stoke win).
"If Ryan Shawcross had joined Arsenal in the summer instead of (Calum) Chambers, he would be in the England squad now.
"And I say get Shelvey involved. There's a qualifying tournament starting. Don't leave him watching it on TV in Swansea."
