VVV Venlo release Cattermole and Sinclair

Former Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole is a free agent after being released by VVV Venlo.

The midfielder managed eleven appearances for the topflight side as they just fought off relegation before the remaining matches of the season were cancelled due to the coronavirus.

Cattermole headed abroad to Holland in August last year after ten years with Sunderland where he played in the Premier League, Championship and League One for the Black Cats.

In a statement via the club website, VVV Venlo explained that the 32-year-old is "considering the next step in his career" after completing his one-year deal

Watford loanee Jerome Sinclair also left the Eredivisie side to return to his parent club who are fighting for Premier League survival.
