Vlaar: We needed to win for us and those who love Villa!

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar was absolutely delighted to be a part of such a commanding win on the weekend.

The Villans came from a goal down to beat Norwich City 4-1 at Villa Park on Sunday with Christian Benteke leading the way with a quick-fire double before Leandro Bacuna and a Sebastien Bassong own-goal completed the rout.

After the match, Vlaar praised Benteke for his efforts as well as highlighting the importance of the victory for the Villa faithful.

"We made a few changes and then came the goal," Vlaar told Sky Sports.

"We didn't start that well and then were 1-0 down and the big man has showed what he's capable of. He was really important for us.

"We didn't score many goals the last few games but today it all fell right for us and we really needed it for ourselves and for everybody else who loves Aston Villa."

The win allowed Villa to move up to 11th on the Premier League table while Norwich remained 15th following a fourth straight away defeat.
