Virgil van Dijk returns to Liverpool from Dubai to continue rehab

Virgil van Dijk has returned to Liverpool to continue his rehab from knee surgery.

The defender has spent much of the past couple of months in Dubai training at the Nad al Sheba Complex, says the Liverpool Echo.

After suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage during the 2-2 draw with Everton in mid-October, Van Dijk underwent surgery in London later that month.

He was then given his first real glimpse of the club's new AXA Training Centre in early December when he was put through his paces with a light gym session.

Van Dijk settled in Dubai later that month as he stepped up his recovery through the use of the world-class facilities on offer at the NAS Complex.

But he is now in the process of furthering his rehabilitation back in Liverpool with club staff as he aims to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

The Dutchman has been given his own bespoke training regime to work towards as the recovery process goes on for the most expensive signing in Anfield history.
