Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla hailed victory over Real Betis as crucial.

The win ends Villarreal's run of poor home results.

Cazorla said, "It was a fundamental match, the days go by and you see yourself down there, hopefully it will be a turning point and we will go up.

"We had to win yes, we were going to suffer, we have made efforts to win and the job was well done.

"We played a full 90 minutes, other times we stopped with 20 minutes left, they had a lot of possession and they did not reach the area, this was the key."
