Villarreal manager Unai Emery wants to reunite with Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The Spaniard signed Guendouzi from Lorient in 2018 and gave him his big break at the Emirates.

Guendouzi, 21, has been discarded by Mikel Arteta since his lashed out at a Brighton player in June.

The Gunners are willing to sell the midfielder but want a significant fee.

According to Foot Mercato, Emery wants to sign the Frenchman on loan rather than permanently.

It is suggested that Villarreal could include an option-to-buy in the loan deal, but it still seems unlikely that it would meet Arsenal's demands.
