Villarreal defender Pau Torres admits Champions League football was a bigger attraction than the Premier League when Tottenham came calling last summer.
Torres was the subject of a bid from Spurs before the start of the new season, but chose to remain with the Yellow Submarine.
He explained, "The desire to play in the Champions League in a team from my hometown was stronger. "The president of Villarreal did not put pressure on me, although the club could earn a lot of money from me.
"I appreciate it."
With a contract to 2024, Torres was the subject of a €60m offer from Tottenham.
