Villarreal coach Quique Setien is happy to be in the Europa League for next season.

Despite defeat to Rayo Vallecano, Villarreal have secured their place.

“It's a shame because we wanted to have Champions League chances until the last game," said Setien.

“The heavy rain affected our style of play. We always try to be at the forefront with the ball and the pitch was very difficult to play on, especially in the first half. It's true that in the second half Rayo were effective and knew how to take advantage of their moment.

“It has a lot of merit (fifth place) and we have to appreciate what we have achieved. With three games to go we had qualified for Europe. In the end we finished fifth and the season has to be appreciated."
