Villarreal coach Unai Emery paid tribute to late vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza after victory over Almeria.
Llaneza passed away last week.
After yesterday's 2-1 win, Emery said: "It was a great day for Villarreal, we paid tribute to José Manuel Llaneza on the pitch, the place where he was with us. In aspects of the game there has been a bit of everything, but today there has been heart and with heart you also win games. We had the belief that with an open game and with one less player, we could win."
On the performance, the coach continued: "In the first half we were looking for balance, but it was the opposite. When the game changes you have to react quickly. Kiko's substitution for Mandi was to gain depth; Alberto is working and playing very well, but he hadn't played for a long time and that's why I rushed the substitution, to look for something different and give Mojica the wing. However, what we needed today was more tactics than epic.
“Today we have freed Jackson a little bit of responsibility and that's why we have been able to see him looser. He scored two goals, one valid and one offside, and he has to evolve so that his work for the team can be transformed into effectiveness."
