Villarreal coach Emery sent off after final whistle - and in players' tunnel

Villarreal coach Unai Emery was sent off after defeat to Real Betis yesterday.

Emery was in the dressing room tunnel and the final whistle had long blown when referee Jesus Gil Manzano sent the coach off.

Afterwards, the Yellow Submarine coach insists he only quizzed Gil Manzano about some decisions.

But later, the ref's match report was published, where he noted Emery “was told that he was dismissed for waiting in the changing room tunnel at our entrance, gesturing and addressing us in the following terms: 'it is always against us, we have bad luck but it's always against us', all of this repeatedly".

The defeat leaves Villarreal in sixth place on the table.
