Villarreal coach Emery: Players face Rayo Vallecano full of confidence

Villarreal coach Unai Emery admits they face Rayo Vallecano today full of confidence.

Villarreal go into the game on the back of victory at Atalanta and qualification to the Champions League round of 16.

Emery said, “We're going into the game after joy in the Champions League, and we're looking to take that into LaLiga. We want to put in a good performance against Rayo Vallecano. I'm optimistic that we can do so. We need to be mentally ready, as well as showing a high physical, technical and tactical level."

The Basque manager praised the opposition, who have had an impressive start to the season: “They're a team who are going into the match in great form. They're a newly-promoted team this year and they've kept the positive points from last season, and that's paying off. They're in the European spots and they're above us in the table."

Regarding the opposition's playing style, Emery emphasized that Rayo Vallecano are a brave side who have a very defined playing style: “They're a daring side, who want to be near the opposition goal. They always play the same way, with the same idea, from the first to the last minute and regardless of the score."
