Villarreal coach Emery on defeat at Man Utd: The boys can be proud

Villarreal coach Unai Emery says they leave Manchester United with heads held high.

The visitors lost 2-1 in their second Champions League group game.

Emery said, "In spite of the result we can be proud. We came here, against Man United and could have won, truth be told. We should have dealt better with them at the end.

"We wanted to nullify them as a team and we did that. We wanted to create chances as a team and we did that. In the 90 minutes we did all that, I want to be proud and congratulate my boys, but we need to take the next step to see these results out.

"It was a big test of what we can do, against the group favourites. This side is maturing, but we are lacking results and we need to take that next step and continue growing. We'll work hard and go into the game against Young Boys with a positive frame of mind."
