Villa youngster Delfouneso happy to wait for chance

Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso is prepared to bide his time as he waits for a first team call.

Delfouneso is tipped for big things Villa manager Martin O'Neill, but faces a battle to see Premiership action this season.

"We have three top-quality international strikers here, so it's bound to be hard," Delfouneso told the Birmingham Mail.

"I know I have to be patient, work hard and prove to the gaffer that I'm worth a chance.

"I'm making decent progress and looking to improve more and more. I'm learning every day and I want to fulfil my potential. With a lot of hard work and maybe a bit of luck hopefully I will be playing more over the next couple of years.

"Now I've made a few appearances I want to try to cement a place. From now on my aim is to be in the team as often as possible.

"I have faith and I have confidence in my ability. I believe I can do it.

"Whatever appearances I make I have to try to impress the gaffer. I'm very thankful that he has given me an opportunity and I want to show I'm worthy of that faith."
