Aston Villa refuse to give up on Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin.

The Daily Mail says Villa will return with an improved £3million offer for Distin after Portsmouth rejected £2.5m.

Distin, 31, who has been a target for Liverpool and Sunderland, hopes Villa can conclude a deal by the start of next week.
