Aston Villa lost their manager for the second time in 10 months this week when Gerard Houllier departed amidst personal health issues.
Strong rumours in the last two days have heavily linked Mark Hughes with the vacant role and when he quit his post as Fulham boss yesterday, it seemed as though they had found their replacement.
But it appears that the departure of Houllier and Hughes' decision to leave Craven Cottage are purely coincidental and the Villa board will go through an extensive process to find their new manager.
