Barry Bannan admits his success with Aston Villa this season has been "brilliant".
Bannan, 21 next month, has made the big breakthrough under the new regime in the Midlands.
He told the Scottish Sun: "I knew if I just kept going that the break would come for me. It's been brilliant.
"Last year I was on loan at Blackpool and only playing now and again.
"Now I'm playing in the Premiership for Villa and the Scotland gaffer has given me a chance. Every game I play now gives me more confidence.
"The gaffer wants a passing game and he gave me the nod for the first-team after I'd done well in training.
"It's not just me. It's really encouraging to see a lot of young lads coming through.
"I'll have to work my socks off to stay in the Villa team. Hopefully I'll put together another few good displays."
