Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan was stunned by the behaviour of Rapid Vienna yobs during last night's 1-1 draw.
The keeper was hit by drinks and narrowly escaped a hail of coins and lighters.
The Yank said: "We knew it was going to be hostile, I got hit by some drinks and there were lighters and coins and stuff.
"You don't like to see it anywhere in football. I'm sure UEFA officials were at the game and will look into it.
"You try to do your best because the referee can't go into the stands and remove people.
"But this is a result we will be happy to take back to Villa Park."
Barry Bannan's vital away goal in this Europa League play-off first leg puts caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald's side in charge of the tie.
