Villa keeper Friedel to play 200th consecutive Premiership game today

Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel will play his 200th consecutive Premiership game today against Everton.

It was August 14, 2004 when the keeper, who was then at Blackburn, started the mammoth sequence in the 1-1 draw with West Brom.

And boss Martin O'Neill believes his veteran is putting down a marker for posterity.

O'Neill said: "I can't see the record ever being broken - not in my lifetime, anyway. How many did David James do? That tells you something. It won't be broken."
