Villa hero Yorke warns Agbonlahor surprise factor is gone

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke is backing Gabby Agbonlahor to hit 20 goals for Aston Villa this season.

The former Holte End hero feels Agbonlahor has the credentials to follow in his footsteps as a prolific goalscorer for Villa.

Yorke told AVTV: "The thing I find when you break on the scene is that's the easy bit because you are new to the system.

"You are fresh and excited about it and defenders are not quite sure how to take you. But when you become established and are playing for England, that's when the testing time really begins.

"He's got all the credentials as we all know of being a fine player. He just needs to keep going and everything will click. That's how it worked for me at the time when I was playing for Aston Villa - something that I watched and learned from the players ahead of me like David Platt and Gordon Cowans.

"The amount of work that they used to put in, in terms of scoring goals, is something that I caught on to and worked extremely hard at to improve my goalscoring talent. Gabby needs to understand that he has got respect in the game now. People know what he's like.

"He's got pace and power and all the things. I'm sure he will improve with time ahead of him.

"He is still a young man and still learning the game and I'm sure he will be the one hitting that 20 mark in the future."
