Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies is ready to sign permanently with Norwich City.
Davies has thanked Sven Goran Eriksson for rescuing his career after admitting life at Villa was like a dull job.
Davies joined Eriksson's Leicester last month and has had his loan extended in the Championship until January.
And the centre-back - who cost Villa £10million from West Brom in 2008 - is hoping regular action can restore his Premier League status.
Davies said: "Sven lets me get on with it and has the confidence to allow me to express myself and show what I am about.
"Going into games Sven says, 'Play how you play' and for him to think I'm good enough without overly instructing me means a lot.
"This is the first time I have been able to play for a year in a run of games.
"I'm more upbeat as I feel it is football again now - it is not going to work.
"It sounds stupid but there was a time at Villa when it was like getting up and going to a job which it shouldn't be like.
"Now I feel like I am going in every day, enjoying it and playing well."
