Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is preparing a bid for Tottenham winger David Bentley.

The Daily Mail says O'Neill doesn't want to be rushed into spending the £12million received from Manchester City for England midfielder Gareth Barry.

But, with Bentley set to leave Tottenham Hotspur just a year after signing from Blackburn Rovers, O'Neill is considering renewing interest in a player he tried to sign last summer.

Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone is also a target for Villa.
