Villa boss O'Neill escapes with warning about his future conduct

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill admitted a charge of improper conduct relating to his behaviour towards referee Mike Riley at the end of Villa's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United on 5 April. He has been warned by the Football Association about his future conduct.

The FA said O'Neill's immediate apology had been taken into account.

The fact O'Neill pleaded guilty and his previous good record were taken into account by the disciplinary commission, but although he escaped a fine he was ordered to pay the costs of the hearing.
