Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is expected to raid his former Birmingham City squad to boost his new team.
Highly-rated players McLeish left behind at Birmingham such as goalkeeper Ben Foster and central defenders Roger Johnson and Scott Dann will be on his list, though he first wants to look at the side he has inherited.
"I've not even given that any thought in terms of how many players will be brought in, there will be a term of assessment first," said McLeish.
Eck may have to move quickly with rivals already eyeing off Birmingham players - Craig Gardner could move to Sunderland this weekend.
