Villa boss Lambert to remain patient with signings

Aston Villa have just two weeks to bring in some new players but new manager Paul Lambert is not worrying too much.

The Scotsman took the reins earlier this summer, departing Norwich City after Alex McLeish was sacked by Villa, and has made three signings since his arrival - Ron Vlaar, Matthew Lowton and Karim El Ahmadi.

But even though the transfer window closes on August 31, Lambert is not getting too carried away on missing out on his targets with the season set to kick-off on the weekend.

"Have there been any bids made or received? No. So I'll wait and see what happens," Lambert told the Express and Star.

"If we go with what we've got on Saturday then I've not got a problem.

"I don't know if there will any more activity before then, but the group are doing all right, so we'll have to wait and see.

"It will be a tough game at West Ham, but I'm looking forward to playing for real. I can't ask for any more from the players in terms of effort."
