Alex McLeish is ready to oversee the sale of Aston Villa winger Ashley Young to Manchester United.
The Mail on Sunday says McLeish's first job as Aston Villa manager this week will be to sign off the £15million move of England international Young to Manchester United.
The Villa board told McLeish during his interview for the job last week that he could not stand in the way of Young's departure, with the 25-year-old winger intent on going to Old Trafford.
Villa owner Randy Lerner, pleased that Young stayed at Villa Park last summer rather than try to force his way out by handing in a transfer request, has verbally agreed to let the player join United.
