Patrick Vieira admitted his pride at guiding New York City FC to a morale-boosting win over local rivals New York Red Bull.
Vieira's side notched their first Hudson River derby with a 2-0 victory at the Yankee Stadium on Sunday and the French coach was over the moon after goals from Jack Harrison and David Villa erased the memories of May's humiliating 7-0 defeat to the Red Bulls.
"There was big expectation and pressure on their shoulders. And they way they responded today, they really made me proud," Vieira said.
"That's why this is a special group of players that I'm really pleased to be working with.
"Today, they gave their answer to [the media] and to everybody that we are strong, we are determined and there's a really good spirit in this football club."
