Vieira, Lampard shocked as New York City FC lose derby 7-0

New York City FC fans jeered Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in his comeback game against New York Red Bull yesterday.

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Dax McCarty scored twice apiece at the Yankees Stadium as NYRB thrashed NYCFC 7-0 to equal the biggest ever winning margin in the leagues history.

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard entered the fray on 75 minutes to a less than welcoming reception from the home crowd.

Manager Patrick Vieira - who left his position as academy coach at the Etihad, was visibly annoyed at the result and made no excuses for his sides' showing.

"In every aspect of the game, we were second. We didn't turn up today.

"It's always good [better] to lose one game 7-0 than seven games 1-0.

"Before the game I knew we were not a perfect team and after the game I can tell you we aren't the worst team."

"I can guarantee that there is no one more than Frank who wants to be on the field to help,"' the ex Arsenal captain said about Lampard.
