Patrick Vieira will remain at Manchester City for a further 12 months after signing a contract extension with the club.

The French veteran will now stay at Eastlands until the end of next season despite starting just eight times for Roberto Mancini last season with the Italian keen to keep him on the books.

Vieira arrived at the City of Manchester Stadium on a free transfer from Inter Milan in January and it is understood he has taken a significant pay cut to remain in the Premier League.
