Verweij on Fraser sacking: Utrecht should not have ignored Ten Hag's treatment of Younes at Ajax

Dutch pundit Mike Verweij says FC Utrecht should've taken seriously the example of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag when dealing with Amin Younes.

Utrecht have just sacked Henk Fraser after he grabbed the former Ajax midfielder by the throat.

Verweij told De Telegraaf: “Younes is just a rare… I can't say it.

“A lot of people think he's really a rare piece of clothing. He also had problems with Erik ten Hag at Ajax when he refused to come on against Heerenveen. That duel was suddenly also his last match at Ajax. Then a solution had to be found and he left for Napoli.

"He just manages to get the blood under the trainers' nails. That Henk Fraser grabs a player by the throat... that is really not for Fraser.

“He also caused misery at Napoli and things did not go well. After that he caused misery at Eintracht Frankfurt, and now he is having misery again at Utrecht. That boy now walks with his chest forward and chin up, which is nice and interesting, because he got rid of the trainer.

"That is of course something that you do not want at FC Utrecht. Those are simply the consequences of attracting players 'by name' and not asking about the background of the players."
