Vaughan ready to reinvent himself to save Everton career

James Vaughan is ready to reinvent himself to shake-off his injury problems at Everton.

The hitman made a record-busting debut four years ago but has started just 10 times since due to a series of nightmare knee injuries.

Even a three-month loan at Derby ended in tears when he returned after just two games because of cartilage problems.

But Vaughan, 21, has seen light at the end of the tunnel again because of a last-minute substitute appearance in Sunday's draw with Birmingham.

Vaughan, who was the Premier League's youngest-ever goalscorer in his 2005 debut, wants to give Everton fans something else to remember him by.

He said: "I don't really want to look back.

"It's really nice to have the record and I'll always be proud of it but if it was to go tomorrow it wouldn't really affect me.

"I just want to move on now, forget about my injuries, and invent myself again.

"Hopefully then I can give people new things to talk about."
