Vasilyev praises Arsenal legend Henry: Montreal Impact great choice

Former AS Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev is happy seeing Thierry Henry take charge of Montreal Impact.

Vasilyev hired the Arsenal legend as Monaco coach last season, though Henry's tenure lasted only months.

Asked if he was surprised by Henry's move to Canada, Vasilyev stated: "No, on the contrary. I think it's a good choice. He will have less pressure, more time to structure and launch his project. It's very smart of him.

"Look at the example of Patrick Vieira. He started at New York City FC and today he's doing great things with Nice. If he had been in Europe, everyone would have scrutinized his work.

"There, he will be able to go step by step, continue to learn and especially practice his job. Most coaches start with small teams before going up a notch."
