Vardy squanders winning penalty in Leicester draw with Spartak Moscow

Leicester City and Spartak Moscow played out a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

In an entertaining contest, it was Spartak who took the lead through Victor Moses.

The former Chelsea winger was allowed to head home unmarked just six minutes after half-time.

The goal sprung Leicester into life and the equaliser was only eight minutes away.

Daniel Amartey scored the decisive goal as he met Ayoze Perez's flick-on with a firm header.

The Foxes thought they had stolen all three points when Ademola Lookman was hauled down in the box by Moses.

But substitute Jamie Vardy was uncharacteristically timid with his spot-kick and allowed Aleksandr Selikhov to save comfortably.

Leicester are two points behind group leaders Napoli, thumped second-placed Legia Warsaw 4-1 earlier.
