Vardy second-half double helps Leicester defeat West Brom

Jamie Vardy scored a second-half penalty double as Leicester City claimed a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone was in brilliant touch to keep his newly promoted in the game at half-time.

But the Foxes showed their class in the second stanza and quickly the broke the deadlock when new signing Timothy Castagne headed home Dennis Praet's cross at the back post.

Vardy then converted from 12 yards on the 74th minute mark to make it 2-0 after he was fouled by Kyle Bartley.

Dara O'Shea's challenge on James Justin ten minutes later brought Vardy back to the spot, and last season's Golden Boot made no mistake in beating Johnstone for a second time.

Speaking after the game, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for his veteran striker.

"Any team would want him. He's super cool, clinical, still has pace and running ability," said Rodgers.

"He's a box player. He'll never be dropping underneath with bright intricate play but he's a killer in the box. Whether from a cross or penalty he's got the eye to score. He never looked like missing."
