Vanhaezebrouck: Anderlecht not to blame for Onyekuru missing World Cup

Anderlecht coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck insists they're not to blame for Henry Onyekuru missing World Cup selection with Nigeria.

The Everton attacker has spent the season on-loan at Anderlecht, but an injury-plagued campaign saw the youngster miss the Super Eagles squad.

But Vanhaezebrouck says: "It is not our fault that Henry is not allowed to go to Russia.

"Everyone sees that he is not ready to play - he is afraid of the duels - and then I cannot pick him to please him. By the way, Henry still has a lot to prove with the national team.

"He was not a fixed value for his injury either, hey?"

HLN says Onyekuru missed Anderlecht training last week as he was in talks with Borussia Monchengladbach.

But Vanhaezebrouck countered: "He is sick. Whether he is really sick? He is sick."
