Vancouver Whitecaps president Lenarduzzi happy to provide O'Brien new "outlet"

Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi feels they've helped Andy O'Brien rebuild his career.

The former Newcastle United and Bradford City defender was driven out of Leeds United by fans as he struggled with depression.

"I think for him, we were a bit of an outlet for him to get out of that grind," Lenarduzzi told the Vancouver Sun. "What he was going through - opposing fans would chant things, derogatory things - he just couldn't get away from it. Here, he's been able to get away from that.

"Not only has he come and done a good job on the field, he's been a great asset to our community because he's prepared to tell his story and help people."
