The 28-year old produced a stellar clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders at BC Place on Saturday, also remarkably providing an assist for the second goal, to go with his seven saves.
Knighton also performed admirably in Vancouver's 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City during the week.
The former Carolina RailHawks gloveman was the star of the show as the 'Caps beat the Sounders, coming up with a string of saves to deny the likes of Eddie Johnson (twice) and Zach Scott, before firing a long ball to Darren Mattocks for the match-winning goal in the 80th minute for his first career assist.
Knighton became the third Whitecaps player in four weeks to clinch the weekly award following Kenny Miller and Camilo who were honoured in Week 16 and 17 respectively.
