Vancouver Whitecaps complete Toronto pay-off for Laba

Vancouver Whitecaps have finalized their payment to Toronto FC for Matias Laba.

The 22-year old Argentine midfielder was traded to the 'Caps in February this year after TFC's salary cap had been breached and the Canadian clubs have now settled the financial agreement.

Toronto general manager Tim Bezbatchenko revealed that the money his club has received from the Whitecaps will allow them to make transfer moves over the off-season.

"Finalizing terms and acquiring funds will assist us as we continue with our strategic planning at both the youth and first team levels," Bezbatchenko said.

"This could be used to help the financing of current or future Designated Players as well as other initiatives to improve our club."

In his first season in Vancouver, former Argentina U20 international Laba made 33 MLS appearances for the Whitecaps.
