Vancouver Whitecaps boss Robinson confident ahead of ‘scary’ month

Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson says his side's depth will be crucial in a 'scary' couple of months in July and August.

The Whitecaps currently sit pretty atop the MLS Western Conference, but face a difficult few weeks with a depleted squad as a result of injuries and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

"We need (depth)," Robinson told reporters at training on Thursday.

"We've got a very tough two months ahead of us. July and August are scary, if I can say that.

"Everyone's going to be needed, everyone's going to be wanted and everyone's going to get their opportunity."

Star midfielder Pedro Morales is also battling niggling injuries that will likely keep him out of the Whitecaps' next clash against Colorado Rapids.

Robinson said that his side has been able to cover for the Chilean so far this season, and their ability to cover for other players in the next month is likely to be an important factor in how the 'Caps finish the season.

"We know we're a very good team when Pedro's firing and he's on," Robinson told reporters at training on Thursday.

"I think that's clear for everyone to see. Sometimes he's not on and sometimes he's hurt and sometimes he's marked out of the game. So we've got to find other solutions to try and win games of football. We've managed to do that the last two games."
