Vancouver's Uruguayan striker Fernandez lands MLS weekly award

Vancouver Whitecaps striker Sebastian Fernandez has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 30 of the 2014 season.

The 24-year old, who is on loan from Boston United, netted twice as the Whitecaps defeated FC Dallas 2-0 BC Place on the weekend.

Fernandez opened the scoring with a 14th-minute header before adding a second less than five minutes later when he controlled a neat pass from Mauro Rosales before finishing from inside the area.

The goals were Fernandez's fourth and fifth of the season in his 30th appearance for the Whitecaps since arriving in February.
