Van Dijk and Salah upbeat after Liverpool defeat of Rangers: But still things to improve

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk says they can build on last night's Champions League win against Rangers.

The Reds won 2-0 as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, via the spot, struck.

Van Dijk later said: "The most important thing is gaining in confidence. We were good with the ball and created chances. We'll try to take all that with us into our next game. Everyone is giving their maximum to be ready for the next one. That's the commitment we all have and that's what is expected of us.

"We should take a lot of positives out of this game and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead [against Arsenal in the Premier League and at Ibrox next week]."

Meanwhile Salah, who was named man of the match, also stated: "It wasn't quite the perfect night, but it was a good performance. We created many chances and deserved to win, so we can be really pleased with the performance and result. The formation worked well, all four attacking players wanted to score.

"There are definitely things to improve, but we're taking things game by game. We did well tonight but we need to keep working on certain aspects to make sure we get even better."
