Former Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart believes Joao Felix has joined the wrong club.

The former Benfica starlet moved to Atletico Madrid this summer for €120m and has managed just four goals this season.

Van der Vaart said, "João Félix is a great player, but he is in the wrong club.

"When they signed João Félix I thought: they are going to play football. But they don't do that at all.

"Of course I understand that winning is the most important thing, but when you have a player like that, you have to build the team around him.

"Atletico Madrid plays very, very compact. It's his style of play: to defend well and then go on the attack. This is also possible, but with a player like that ... "He's in the wrong club and probably has the wrong coach (Diego Simeone)."
