Van der Vaart happy to see Mourinho take Spurs job

Former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart is happy to see Jose Mourinho take the job.

The Dutch midfielder was a big hit with supporters during his time at White Hart Lane, and thinks the club could be in for an exciting period under the controversial Portuguese boss.

Van der Vaart tweeted on Thursday saying: "Football is so crazy at times. We all know that, fans, players, staff.

“I was as shocked as everyone. Poch has done a tremendous job at Spurs, and it won't be easy to tip his team performance and passion for our club.

“In football nothing is certain, but one thing is: Mourinho will stir things up, so let's see what happens."

He also aimed a dig at north London rivals Arsenal by continuing: “He is a phenomenal coach, straightforward and ambitious and so are our boys. So #COYS heads up, chest out.

“We're not only the best of northern London, we are the best. So show it."
