Ajax coach Marco van Basten says the door will always be open to new Real Madrid signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
The Dutch giants held a farewell ceremony for Huntelaar yesterday and Van Basten said: "Remember, the door of this place will always open. You're an example of a professional and I've appreciated your efforts every day. I hope you enjoy an excellent time at Real Madrid."
For his part, Huntelaar told fans: "I would liked to have stayed the season, but Real Madrid wanted an answer and I found the proposal attractive."
Turning to Van Basten, the striker added: "Thank you. I have learned a lot. It hurts to leave the team mid-season, but with a great memories of everyone here."
After the ceremony, Huntelaar and Van Basten spent several minutes inside the home dressing room one-on-one, with the coach giving his protege some final tips about making the big move abroad.
