Valencia want to cash-in on centenary year

Valencia are actively looking for a new main sponsor, according to a report from Palco23.

The Spanish sport business outlet says that the La Liga club is looking to take advantage of its centenary year in 2019 to seal a more lucrative contract than they currently have with US mobile phone manufacturer Blu Products, which pays a reported €4 million (US$4.5 million).

Although Valencia officials would not disclose to Palco23 what they believe an appropriate valuation to be, they did say that the relaunching of the club's digital channels and the visibility of La Liga broadcasts would guarantee any potential partner a sufficient return on their investment.

Valencia signed a one-year extension with Blu halfway through the 2017/18 season just seven months after partnering with the company for the first time. That deal runs out at the end of the current campaign, paving the way for another firm to take over the reins for the second half of the club's centenary year.

Valencia's centenary year has also reportedly prompted German sportswear brand Puma, which is expected to replace Adidas as the club's kit sponsor next season, to put together a bespoke marketing strategy for the occasion. (www.sportspromedia.com/)
