Valencia open Man Utd talks for Romero

Valencia have opened talks with Manchester United for Sergio Romero.

The Mirror says Romero could be on the way out of Old Trafford – with Valencia pushing to end his stay at Manchester United.

The Spanish side are believed to have contacted United and are willing to pay around £6 million for the 33-year-old Argentinian who faces slipping down the pecking order to number three after the return of Dean Henderson who is seen as United's future number one.

Romero has been number two to David De Gea for the past five years since his arrival on a free transfer from Italian side Sampdoria in 2015.

The South American star has played only seven League games for United in his time at the club, accepting his chances would be few and far between as he played an understudy role to De Gea.

Romero - on a reported £65,000-a-week – was content to stay at United on the understanding he'd be the club's cup goalkeeper outside of Premier League and Champions League games.

But it's believed he felt aggrieved by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to go with De Gea for the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea and the Europa League semi-final against Seville.
