Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo blamed the Getafe pitch for Sunday's surprise 1-0 defeat.
After drawing with Barcelona and Real Madrid, Valencia could have taken their unbeaten run to 14 games but failed against a midtable side playing with 10 men from the 20th minute.
Parejo claimed they were unable to play their usual game due to the condition of the grass.
"We have suffered our first loss of the season. We knew it would be tough and you have to congratulate Getafe," he began.
"They've taken the three points, but you can't watch great football on a pitch like this.
"In conditions like this they have beaten us, it's not fair, but football is like that.
"The ball didn't run, the pitch was dry, it seemed like they haven't maintained it for a week.
"It's not an excuse, but you have to find a solution to be the best league in the world."
