Valencia hero Santiago Canizares is proud of son Lucas after he made his Spain U16 debut.

Like his Dad, Lucas Canizares is also a goalkeeper and is on the books of Real Madrid.

"I feel very proud of the debut of my son in the national team," said Santiago.

"Bu he knows and because I have experienced this, that this moment is only a first step to be able to realise the dream of being a professional footballer."

He added: "When I played with the U16s we were European champions in 1986, it was the first great title of Spain in football after the European Championship of '64 with Marcelino's goal, and of that team where there were good players, very few reached the elite, which is why humility and tranquility is needed because some of those kids who are debuting, this success can confuse them."
