Valencia goalscorers delighted after Young Boys triumph

Santa Mina scored twice as Valencia defeated Champions League opponents Young Boys on Wednesday night.

The Estadio Mestalla crowd were on their feet on the quarter hour as Mina fired home, before Roger Assale drew the visitors level eight minutes before the break.

Mina's second from a Carlos Soler assist resotred parity on 42, and it was Soler himself who added a third on 56.

With confidence returning to their play, Los Che stroked the ball around, and their task was made even easier by Sekou Sanogo's straight red card with 13 to play.

Afterwards, Mina stated: “The biggest factor we've been missing so far this season is luck. For the opening goal tonight I just guessed that the ball would come back off the post. In other games it would have trickled past instead."

Fellow goalscorer Soler said: “I was a youth-team player here. One Champions League night, when I was aged about 11, I helped take the UEFA symbol out to the centre circle and shake it during the anthem. I dreamed I'd play here and score in this competition - now I have."
