Valencia goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was delighted to be back for their 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

The Dutchman was recalled by coach Jose Bordalas and was impressed on the day.

He said, "I'm happy to have played again, and to have helped the team.

"I think that the game was very open for both of us in the first half. There weren't many chances for either side. They made it 0-1 and then the second yellow card for Maxi Gomez made it more difficult for us. We showed a lot of character to score when down to ten men, and to earn a point today.

"It wasn't easy, after two defeats. Now we have more confidence. It isn't easy to play against Athletic, but in the end getting a point in this way is good.

"I've only played in one of our games. It's not easy, but the calendar is the same for every team. There's not much time, but we know this and we keep going."
