Valencia GM Alemany: I want Marcelino to stay

Valencia GM Mateu Alemany insists they want coach Marcelino to stay.

If it were solely down to him then Alemany would certainly want the Asturian manager to stay.

"He's just renewed, he has a contract until 2020 and my desire is that he sees out his contract and, if it's possible, that he renews," Alemany told reporters.

When asked about whether Marcelino's future depended on Saturday's game with Real Valladolid, Alemany dismissed that suggestion.

"Of course not, as a project is a project and it doesn't just come down to one match," he said.

"It's a project that was born a year and a half ago and is underway.

"It's convenient to remember the great success of our players and the coach and we mustn't forget that.

"In football you often live in the present and on the last result.

"The club cannot foresee taking any short-term decision in a sporting sense.

"I like talking about what's happened already, not talking about riddles or hypothesises."
